The title above is only one question in a litany that I (and probably loads of other people) have in the wake of a recently reported letter (see below) from the DC inspector general (IG) to the council, saying that the IG determined that former DCPS chancellor Kaya Henderson had given “preferential treatment” to DC officials and other parents, by ensuring their children got out of boundary slots outside of the lottery process.
To be sure, the regulations binding the chancellor on this subject are written rather loosely—and, if the statement provided to the Post by the former chancellor is indeed true, nothing in this entire affair seems very clear.
