Getting (Politically) Educated

Not that we here in DC don’t have a lot going on politically right now, but a tag line on an email from a teacher this morning just enlightened me about another piece of this, intimately related to the issues of local control and political autonomy that seem to be in the air we breathe this year:

“The New Columbia Statehood Commission invites residents of the District of Columbia to participate in the Constitutional Convention on June 13 [6 pm, at the District of Columbia Taxicab Commission, 2235 Shannon Place SE, Room 2032] and June 17-18 at Woodrow Wilson High School [not sure what time on those days; 3950 Chesapeake Street NW]. All District residents will be able to provide testimony on the draft New Columbia Constitution.”
