Cross Sector Task Force Releases Report; Members Resign

Into the deep well of overlooked news dumped on a Friday evening before a long holiday weekend, the office of the deputy mayor for education (DME) this past Friday released its report on the work of 2+ years of the cross sector task force (CSTF). The somewhat triumphant press release avoids discussing the group’s failures, while presenting a lovely vision of public engagement and collaboration–which is rather ironic, given that the DME’s office wanted CSTF meetings to be private and advocated for a variety of cross sector initiatives (see here and here) that no one in the group actually ever articulated.

A day after the report was issued, two CSTF members resigned due to disagreement with both the report’s conclusions and the process by which they were arrived at. Below is their resignation letter–with annotations by me.
